ASCO Engineering Scholarship - 2012 Winners


​Kelsey Johnson

Kelsey is a student at Purdue University, studying for her Mechanical Engineering degree with an emphasis on manufacturing.  Kelsey’s GPA is a 3.89. She is also a member of Engineers Without Borders, helping the global community of Papachara, Bolivia.

A few of Kelsey’s many honors and awards include:

  • Dean's List throughout her entire college academic career
  • Presidential Scholarship
  • John Bruce Memorial Scholarship
  • Delphi's Society of Women's Scholarship

"Receiving this scholarship from ASCO Numatics significantly helps me pay for tuition and continue pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue University. It is an honor to receive this award and it encourages me to continue to strive for excellence in both my academic and professional career. I hope that with this degree I can bring significant contributions to the companies I work for and to the community around me. I appreciate the generosity ASCO Numatics has shown by offering this scholarship, promoting excellence and leadership in the field of manufacturing and processing engineering."

Nathan Koetsier

Nathan is studying for his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University. Nathan has maintained a 3.93 GPA throughout his academic career. Nathan has a passion for fishing and motorsports and is actively involved in the Michigan Tech Baja SAE Team.

A few of Nathan's many honors and awards include:

  • Participated in the National Baja Competition in June of 2012. Nathan was the Lead Continuously Variable Transmission designer and manufacturer. The team placed 8th overall out of 100 teams.
  • Intramural Hockey Coach
  • Dean’s List every semester throughout his college career

"After receiving a phone call saying that I won the scholarship, I could hardly sit still in my next class. Receiving this scholarship has allowed me to opportunity to focus more on my classes and worry less about tuition.  In addition to the winning the scholarship, I had a chance to attend the PACK Expo in Chicago.  While at the expo I was able to see how ASCO Numatics is dedicated to developing the next generation of engineers through both this scholarship and the Amazing Packaging Race.  I would like to thank ASCO Numatics for the scholarship and a great trip to Chicago."
