Emerson Launches New TopWorx Switchbox Assembly Line in Brazil

Local Manufacturing Offers South American Customers Rapid Product Availability

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL, April 2, 2018 - Emerson has launched a new production line at its ASCOVAL plant in Sao Paulo to assemble TopWorx™ switchbox products. Emerson is the only global company with localized manufacturing in South America to produce valve monitors to serve the automation and safety requirements of the oil, gas and petrochemical industry.

"Emerson's local manufacturing ensures that South American customers will experience much faster lead times for TopWorx's industry-leading switchbox products than competitive offerings," said Mauricio Garcia, Director of Marketing and Customer Service, Fluid & Motion Control, LATAM at Emerson. "We recognize that customers in mission-critical industries must have immediate access to our automated valve monitors - when they need them, where ever they need them."

Emerson will assemble two major TopWorx™ switchbox models at the ASCOVAL plant.

  • The D-Series switchbox is the industry's premier valve monitor. It can be paired with a TopWorx GO™ Switch proximity sensor for applications where accuracy and dependability are paramount. The device also can incorporate mechanical, reed, and inductive switches.
  • The T-Series switchbox delivers outstanding value by providing full functionality in compact, direct-mount enclosures.

Emerson's portfolio of TopWorx™ products assures that customers' safety, reliability, performance, and service life objectives are fulfilled. Modular designs and worldwide certifications allow for easy model and option selection to reduce complexity and drive global standardization.

"Customers will now benefit from locally made, rapidly available valve monitors that offer seamless integration, exceptional reliability, local technical support, and ease of configuration and maintenance," said Garcia.

A switchbox is a device that is connected to a process valve to monitor and control its position (open or closed). It can be networked to a distributed control system and monitored from a central control room. The switchbox is an important component in a refinery or petrochemical plant that enables operators to visually or electronically inspect process valve position and operation.

The switchbox products assembled at the ASCOVAL facility are backed by Emerson's global support network. They can be purchased by calling (55 11) 4208-1700, emailing to ascoval@emerson.com, or visiting www.ascoval.com.br.
