Packaging machinery for a glass container manufacturer.
Learn more about ASCO Packaging Industry Solutions
The packaging division of large global company produces over 1 million glass bottles and jars per day. Its main operating focus is on energy savings and cost reduction. The customer wanted to install wear-resistant pneumatic system components that would reduce energy and maintenance costs plus stop compressed air leakage.
The packaging division selected the
ASCO Numatics series 2012 valve* with a closed center to achieve its energy savings goals. This three-position valve reduced idle air consumption from 80 cfm to 15 cfm (Cubic Feet per Minute). When the valves were installed on one machine, the energy cost reduction exceeded the expense to install the valves on eight additional case erectors. The customer benefitted from the 2012 series’ 1-million cycle performance rating, a dramatic reliability improvement over the previous components. The conversion to these wear-resistant ASCO Numatics products significantly reduced maintenance costs. In addition, the ASCO Numatics valves come in matched sets with precisely fitted air seals that offer much higher performance and less air leakage than the O-ring construction in the valves they replaced.
*The ASCO Numatics series 2012 is currently in the process of transitioning over to the ASCO Numatics series 503. For more information on the ASCO Numatics series 503 -
- High performance achieved annual energy savings of almost $8,000, allowing for rebates and "going green" incentives
- High reliability reduced maintenance costs
- Wear-resistant spool-and-sleeve design minimised air leakage
