580 with IO-Link

IO-Link® is a global standardised IO technology (IEC 61131-9) developed primarily for communication with smart sensors and actuators. It can also be used with valves and other field devices. IO-Link® resides below the I/O level and is used to individually link field devices. An IO-Link® Master with a higher level fieldbus protocol is required.

The 580 IO-Link® communications node offers both event based as well as standard I/O mapped diagnostics, requires minimal commissioning, and is compatible with distributed modular I/O. ASCO Numatics 580 IO-Link® Electronics support both Class A (4 pin) and Class B (5 pin with isolated ground) communication port types.

The IO-Link Consortium, which is a technical committee within PROFIBUS® & PROFINET® International (PI), oversees and manages IO-Link® specifications.

More information regarding IO-Link® can be obtained from the IO-Link® website.
