Breakers The vacuum circuit breaker is a complete unit with operating mechanism, auxiliary switches, and interlocks. A barrier separates the high voltage parts of the circuit breaker from the operating mechanism and control devices. The circuit breakers will be horizontal draw-out type capable of being withdrawn on rails. All major manufacturers of breakers are used. The breakers are operated by a motor charged spring stored energy mechanism. The stored energy mechanism is front accessible and is charged normally by a universal electric motor and in an emergency by a manual handle. The primary disconnecting contacts are silver plated copper. The breaker is 1,200 to 3,000 AF, 3 pole, electrically operated, and draw-out. The draw-out feature provides for connected, test, and disconnected positions. In the connected position the main line, load terminals, all auxiliary control contacts, and the breaker are fully operable.

Protective Relays Protective relays from all major manufacturers are used. All relays meet ANSI and IEEE standards and provide protection against reverse power, loss of excitation, over/under voltage, over/under frequency, over temperature and more.

Instrument Switches Instrument switches are of the rotary type and the contacts are completely enclosed. Each switch is supplied with a titled escutcheon plate that is suitably marked for each position. The switches have positive means of maintaining contact; the contacts are silver to silver with a wiping action.

Instrument Transformers Instrument transformers are an indoor type with ratings coordinated with the load required per ANSI Standard C57.13. Current transformers are provided with shorting type terminal blocks. Potential transformers are provided in turns ratio and VA burden rating to be compatible with the controls, metering, and the electronic governors. Primary and secondary fuses shall be provided for potential transformers. Potential transformers are mounted on tilt-out trunnion or drawer, with primary and secondary disconnects. Transformers have integrally mounted primary and secondary fuses.
