Various installations require the addition of a generator bus main or utility tie breaker. These sections are equipped with a main vacuum breaker, current transformers and potential transformers for sensing the normal utility source. Various utilities will require different types of protection. Pictured here is a standard configuration with both the ASCO Power Manager XP and the GE Multilin SR750 relay for over current protection. The utilities generally define protection between their line and the point of common coupling.
The generator bus main/ utility tie is used in all medium voltage PCS applications where closed transition utility, soft load, power export or zero power export is required.
